Chestnut Brown - What Color is Similar

I've got a little modification in my head that I'd like to try but, I can't find any Chestnut Colored touch-up paint (I don't want to go to the dealership and fork out the bills for this project).

My question, does ford have a color that's similar to the Chestnut Brown? Any idea what Ford's name for that color might be and what year they used it?

In all actuallity, it doesn't have to be a FORD color. It can be anything. I just need a color that's close to that of Chestnut Brown (B4/M6985A).

Thanks folks.

since you are being so vague with your ideas and plans don't know what to tell ya, but have you tried going to autozone and checking out there selection.....I know before our KR's they had a color very close to your Chesnut if not the same.....sorry, but I don't know the color code for it. I will see what I can do though.....I will make some calls for ya.

Haven't tried just walking in *YET*. I was hoping to have a good heads up before I went in (potentially from someone else's experience with a certain brand or something of that nature.)

You'll see what I do with it if it turns out like I plan for it to... If not, I'll have to buy a couple of parts to pay for my experiment. MUHAHAHAHAHA. I think it'll look really good if I can pull it off and I'm good enough with the paint (this will be somewhat of a precision job).

Thanks a bunch for your help.

No need to go way out of your way for me skagel... I appreciate you making the call to the dealership. I think it does help to have a set of boobs. LMAO. Seriously though, thanks.

Raoul, Dark Toreador Red would work like a champ. Only one problem, the brand that Wal-Mart, Autozone, and K-Mart carry are made by dupli-color and duplicolor doesn't make that color. Thanks for your help.

I guess I'm going to swing by autozone or Meijer on the way home and see if I can track something down that might work for what I need it to work for. The only bad thing about buying an unknown is that the caps NEVER match the color of the contents to the 'T' and thus, when you use it, you realize that it's about 5 shades off.

(Don't worry though, I won't be painting any metal peices -- Just one plastic piece). It won't be a substantial modification but, I think it'll turn a couple of heads. Heck, then again, maybe this is the obcessed coming out of me (Dave's label).

Will this dupli-color stuff coat plastic pretty well? Anyone had any experience with touchup paint on plastic?

Thanks again guys and gal.

I had that problem with the Charcoal blue. The only choice I had was to order some from paintscratch.com.

I also ordered my Estate Green from http://www.paintscratch.com

decent and great quality. They will also add a flex additive for free if you are painting a plastic part

The color the dealer gave me was Autumn Brown CC "B4". I had to use it on my grill where my bug shield rubbed a spot. It looked like a perfect match to me. Hope this helps.
