Did I screw up?

I've been having problems with my speedometer not reading accurately. For some reason, it will read less MPH than actual speed. (Speed measured with GPS). For instance, gps says 75, and speedo reads 55.
I've just ordered a replacement speedo cluster, (used), off e-bay. I will probably have my dealer replace it, but am wondering about re-programming the replacement to reflect the mileage on the current speedo. What's the consensus of the members about this?

Do you have taller tires that the original factory tires? Have gears been swapped?

Not a problem with tires and no gears have been swapped. This is an intermittent problem that occurs occasionally. Things are normal for many, many miles, and all of a sudden while driving, the speedo acts up.
I have replaced the alternator, and installed a new battery, as these were suggestions from the members here on an earlier post I made.

My dealer said a new cluster is about $750.00, just for the cluster. Bought a used one, same year, etc., as mine, for $75.00. Only problem, I don't know how many miles are registered on the one I bought.
The reason for my question about screwing up, is, as I understand it, the change will have to be recorded as being made, which will show up at dealers and Car Fax, etc.
Maybe I can put the replacement one in and then have the original repaired leaving the original miles on it. Then swap them back. I don't know.

I believe you'll have to program for PATS before you can use the swapped cluster
