Help with mirror switch

Hi guys. Both my power mirrors function great in all directions except down. Being that both sides have the same problem, I'm guessing it's a dirty contact or a bad switch. I want to pop the switch to check it or replace it. The truck is all new to me...I have had F350 trucks so I'm not sure how to go about doing this without breaking something. Any pointers?

Good! The contacts can become dirty or covered in a non-conducting deposits due to arcing. I've always used an ink eraser to clean them, which doesn't scratch like sandpaper. Since Radio Shack has gone out of business, it may be hard to find contact cleaner. Automotive stores sell very fine (1000 or 1500 grit) sandpaper that is probably fine too.

Another problem though is that the switch may be out of adjustment. If you can see the contacts with the switch closed, make sure it DOES close when activated. If you have opened the switch, you can probably bend the contact springs a bit to improve contact.

If you have an ohmmeter, you should be able to test the switch at all positions to see if it is OK.

Hey thanks! I don't have an ohmmeter, and the contacts look ok to me. I'm going to put a new switch in and see what happens.

I ordered a new switch and it comes in Thursday. I hope that's the solution...it would be cool if it's that easy.
