My new King Ranch w/pics

Hello everyone, my name is Frank. I purchased a King Ranch 4x4 about 2 weeks ago. I traded in my 2002 F-150 towards it. I've been driving F-150's my entire driving life (only 10 years). I had a beat up '97 base model, then a 2002 Supercrew Lariat, and now the KR. with an older beat up one to a fancy KR model now. I'm new here, so I thought I would introduce myself.

Pics:

P.S. This forum has been very helpful in learning how to properly care for the KR seats. I am having some problems changing out the stereo though.

Nice, welcome. The geese seem to agree also... I guess there would be a gaggle of them.

BTW, if you use KR conditioner, wipe it down/buff it with towel so that there is not a white haze on your seats the next day. Some of the OCDers say to use microfiber. I am happy with a towel.

I agree. Microfiber is great for drying the exterior of the vehicle, but makes picking up conditioner and cleaning residues a little difficult, at least in my experience.

Well I already put the exhaust on it. That's a must! lol. But I put in my subwoofer and amp already. I'm just having difficulty getting the CD player to work. I'm going to leave it alone and take it to a pro audio person this week. I was thinking about a Line-X bed liner and a grille guard later down the road. Maybe a custom license plate. But that's it since I don't do alot of hardcore off-roading through deep water or mud or anything. Just grass, ditches, and rocks. Oh, I will replace the tires with Michelin LTX M/S's when the Pirellis wear out. I love the way mud grapplers look, but I don't know how well they will perform in just rocks and grass, as well as on road.

What problem are you having with the headunit? I think there is more information then you could ever need on here. Please dont take it to a "pro" shop....

Congrats on the new truck and welcome to the forum.

Well the truck came with a Pioneer AVIC model that has navigation and plays DVD/CD. I wanted to replace it with something simpler. I unscrewed the four bolts/screws that hold the unit, and after I removed the 4th screw, the unit turned off. It would not turn back on. I didn't even touch any wiring at first. I also did not see any ground wires dangling around (maybe rigged to the screws). I later unplugged the unit and plugged up a Pioneer MP3/CD player. That doesn't work either. Everything is wired correctly. I checked all the fuses that relate to the radio and they are ok. I even unplugged the battery and reconnected it (had to do that anyways for the sub/amp I'm putting in). I thought maybe it was some sort of anti-theft feature, lol.

Nevermind, fixed the unit. Problem was a loose wire coming from the truck, and it was hidden lol.

I'd spin a new thread in the headunits forum. We have some true experts (guys that work retail, guys that own their own shops, etc) that lurk in there. I bet someone can get you through it...

Might give it a go?

Nice truck. I traded up to a king Ranch. I love this truck. The leather is great. I use the king Ranch conditioner or Lexol both work great and keep the leather soft.
