I think he's lucky - if the water were a bit higher or flowing a bit faster, he'd have been driving a "boat", and "floating down the river".

People get killed every year trying to cross washes in our summer monsoon season here in Tucson. They just don't realize the power of a fast moving stream.

He's got 4x4 and a brush guard, he'll be ok.

He is lucky but it's nice to see him putting that truck to good use.

The brush guard's probably what saved him!

I sort of think the ones that die are demonstrating evolution in action, but I hate to see an innocent King Ranch be sacrificed.

What got my attention in that picture was how low the water looked between the wheels. That told me it was piling up on the other side a bit. This is what pushes vehicles into the streams here in Arizona.

However, I agree that our trucks CAN handle some pretty bad driving conditions!

Aw, Shine - Maybe I'm all wrong, but the water looks like it's "flowing" to me here. And, it appears to be at about the door level (at least on the other side). If so, that's getting into the "floatation" level here in Arizona.

And if I'm wrong, then you are right! Drive that thing right on through! A little water, or mud, or sand, or snow will not hurt our trucks! (But it IS bad for our seats)!

Shines is right, its standing water. The truck is in motion, makes it look like the water is moving. Look at the sign posts and phone poles in the background. Where they meet the water is undisturbed; no white water or high sides. It is standing water and not very high, no worries. Even without the brush guard.

I feel properly corrected! The water DOES appear to be "standing" after all.

It's interesting, there was an article in the paper today about the people who die every year after driving into flooded washes. I don't worry so much about them, but the kids or dogs that take the journey with them is another story.
