Steering Wheel Question

It's been a while since I posted to the forum but I still check in periodically just to see what's going on.

My question concerns the King Ranch steering wheel. I thought I read or saw something recently that Ford was either replacing or offering as an option a different steering wheel. Instead of the traditional King Ranch leather wrapped wheel, they were offering a wheel that matched the dark colored wood trim on the dash and door panels. I know some people have looked into changing their steering wheel with an aftermarket product similar to this but not a Ford offering.

The steering wheel on my 2005 King Ranch is getting pretty dirty across the top and the sun coming through the front windshield has done a number on the backside of the wheel. I was thinking about replacing the wheel with something a little more durable but still try and maintain the King Ranch trim.

Has anyone else seen or heard about this?

I haven't heard about it through Ford, but I'd like to see what the end result is.

Good Luck!

I swapped out my factory KR steering wheel with an aftermarket KR woodgrain wheel. I purchased mine off of ebay from this gentleman...

truck-n-van-man

I checked eBay and he currently does not have any available. It takes a while to wait for one to come up.

Here is a pic of it installed (pretty close, but not EXACT match to the factory woodgrain on the dash)...

Nope... haven't heard of that. I believe that the KR Expy had a woodgrain version stock (Lenny - can you help?).

Other than that, there was a pseudo-group buy that occured for the replacement steering wheel.

Correct as usual, Brad !

Post Scipt.

The ship carrying my Expy to the UK is due to dock in Thamesport tomorrow !!

It'll be like getting a new vehicle, though I wont see it for a couple of weeks while it goes through its approval for EU use., and UK registration.

You CAN clean the thing - I used saddle soap.

Afterwards, you can refinish it with Tandys Satin Shene. Mine looks great! I've got other posts on this subject in this forum. Search on "Tandys", or "Shene".

I park next to a 04+ gray KR F150 at the office every morning, funny i've never met the guy though, but his has a woodgrained steering wheel. I'm kind of envious and i'll ask him if i ever run into him where he got it.
