Has anyone tried spraying their seats with that waterproofing spray we all put on our shoes that keeps them dry in the puddles and rain? NOT CAMPDRY, but some good stuff like from Berman's Leather, or Leatherworld, etc. I am paranoid I am going to spill something on mine the day I get the truck and have to live with a stain for ever. I don't normally spill, but you all know Murphy's Laws, right? I can just see that armrest getting spotted from coffee or something. I'm more worried about the passenger who is most likely to do the damage.

Trouble is, on what "inconspicuous" part of the interior do you try it out on to see if you like the result?
I suppose an approach might be to try it on some "tooling leather". I think the tanning process is quite similar to what is used on Castano. (At least tooling leather absorbs water instantly and dyes too). So, if the "look" of the tooling leather was not changed much and if it then became fairly water resistant, I'd try it on someting like the wheel or the console in the truck.
There are some great waterproofing chemicals out there that work fantastically well. The problem that I'd forsee is that most of the ones that I've tried tend to really darken the leather.
I'm a HUGE fan of Sno-Seal but, it does a number on the color...
Do the waterproofing agents that you speak of darken considerably?
Actually, I may try it if I can find out what parts of the seats are "leather trim" and what parts are actually "look-alike" vinyl. I use the stuff from Wilsons, and Leather Limited on my leather coats, shoes, and even my wifes suade shoes without darkening them at all. The worst I see is it will wear off after sliding in and out of the truck seats, or where your arm rubs the rest. It is such a light spray I'd have no doubts trying it out. I just need the truck! It's sitting at the Chicago Mixing Terminal since 10:30 am today.

The stuff that looks a bit to me like what a football is made of on the dash and on the doors, is fake though.
But, is your NEW KR going to have Castano leather? I thought they had come out with a new finish in the new vehicles.
chalk me up as interested in this....darken leather, hell I am in for that seeing as the front seats on my truck are a good 3-4 shades lighter than the rears.

The 150's still have Castano. The 08 250+ went to Chaparral.
Also, 100% agreed on the entire seat being leather. This includes fronts, backs, sides, bolsters, rear seats, consoles, wheel, head rests, and arm rest in the rear. That's one of the perks to the KR package.
The only exception to the 'if it's brown, it's leather' rule are the door panels, seat bases, and dash piece -- those are all pleather/vinyl/plastic.
So, I have been following this thread hoping to hear some good news.....any luck with the waterproofing yet? I feel it would be worthwhile, even if it does darken it up a bit.

if you have the 60/40 split, test it on the inside of the seats. Pop one section up, and their should be one side that stays hidden. or on the under side of your headrests. those are 2 places i would think would make good test spots.
I was trying to find the products that Smoke was talking about, but I could not find a specific waterproofer on either website. If Smoke or RockPick can recommend a specific product--I will give it a try.
