Well Boys, I'm Comin' Over

I just ordered a new 2008 Supercrew King Ranch and am wondering what in the !@#$% I am thinking! The Boss and I had a good discussion and the Superduty, and although I love it and will miss it dearly, is just more truck than I need for a daily driver and to haul a travel trailer a dozen weekend a year. I'm thinking a King Ranch just may be the right kind of pacifier until I trade again next year. Besides, diesel at $0.80 a gallon more than gasoline when I burn close to 50,000 miles year is some money.

Anyway, here she is:

Mahogany w/ Pueblo
150" Wheelbase Screw
3.73 Limited Slip
20" Wheels
35.7 Gallon Fuel Tank
Trailer Package
Trailer Tow Mirrors
Chrome Step Tubes
Captain's Chairs
Heated Seats
Audiophile
Sirius
Moonroof
Power Rear Slider
Reverse Camera
Power Pedals

Four weeks is the estimated delievery. man... that's a loooong time to wait!

Nice truck, anxious to see the new colors....

BTW, as a Ford stockholder wanted to say thanks for your frequent and on-going purchases

You're quite welcome! I just received a call from the dealer this afternoon that the truck was pulled and will be scheduled this weekend. Supposedly it's four weeks after its scheduled. Ooooooo, I can't wait. It better get here soon so I don't have time to second guess myself. After all, I am a diesel nut without hope.

That should be an awesome truck. What model has the 150" wheelbase? Is it a Super Crew with a 6.5' bed?

And, looking at the gas tank size, it would appear to have a 6.5 bed.

I'm really impressed with this for a "company truck". Smokewagun, what in the hell is this business you're in? Do you think your boss would consider hiring an old, broken down 67 year old engineer/programmer/university lecturer/former pilot? I might consider coming out of retirement if the offer is good.

Well, it's all about hard work and some long hours, when needed. I am a PM for a small contracting firm. My boss is a great guy. I'd love to say it's a free bee, but I pay for it... believe me. Nothing comes free despite what some of my friends and relatves think. There are days when I think I'd be better off just buying a rig outright and taking the "per mile" stipend, but for right now, I'll keep the nose to the grindstone.

There is a dealership here in North Texas...with three of the trucks you described. If ya want another color, there are about nine others.

WOW !

There's someone older than me on the forum !
Neat !!!

(Former pilot too by the way !)

PS
Writing this from Manchester US Airways lounge. (UK)

Our 11am flight to Philly delayed by 4 hours, which they say has happened every day this past week...brilliant!
MIGHT just make the connection to Houston, but if not, it then puts our connection to south Texas totally out.
Then it's lots of work as it looks as though our house has sold (What a hit we took), then packing up the Expy with all our personal bits and bobs and containerising it back to the UK, where I think it might just be the only KR Expy in Europe...unless someone can tell me otherwise.

Hey Ho !!

It's been a funny old life.

For those of you that think it all becomes clear as you get older........I reckon it just gets more confusing.

Thanks for the locates. If it's Lonestar, they are shortboxes from what I saw. I couldn't seem to find the fuel tank, box length, and the mirrors all on the same Mahogany truck. I stopped at the dealer yesterday, and the truck has been sent to the plant to build. I think I should have it in about 3-4 weeks.

OOPS! Sorry, I overlooked the bed size. When I was at the dealer dropping off my wifes expy, I saw that they had a ton of KR's. EVERY one of them had the tow mirrors and camera. I bet if they had what ya wanted, you could have gotten at least 11k off sticker.

Enjoy your new truck when it arrives!

Safe journey Lenny (what's left of it)! One day I'd like to visit Wales, and Scotland too.

Had a VERY enjoyable 10 days in the south part of Ireland (Bantry Bay - and I know, it's not part of the UK) two summers ago and then just a short time near London. I really enjoyed the people and the countryside.

Yep, some of us are really into "Geezerhood" status!

I had my truck in for service today at the 'local' dealer. While they were checking things out, I took a walk out on the lot. They had one of them there Mahogany/Beige numbers sitting out there on the lot. What a beauty! I was tempted to find a salesman and talk about a deal. The only thing that stopped me was remembering the slow, painful death the the Wife would provide for me had I made that deal.

I do like the '08's though. They have the stake pocket caps in the bed rails, which I don't have. They also have those drilled and tapped holes along the inside of the bed for attaching 'accessories'. Pretty cool. I also like the 20" wheels. All in all, a very nice truck.

I also notice the door handles and trim around them were painted to match the body color. One less step to consider during a detail.
