FOUND original leather for KR

I found a local shop here in El Paso that has some of the original king ranch leather in stock. They said it runs about 250 bucks a hide, but I saw and touched the stuff. Its identical to what I have in my truck now.

Also, as an additional option to this... The tannery that actually does the hides for our interiors is GARDEN STATE TANNERY.

Hey KR, how big is a hide?

that doesn't seem like a bad deal, but i dont think i would need a whole hide, maybe 1/2 or 1/3...they don't sell anything less? if they do, i'll buy it in a second!

I was told a hide was enough to cover the faces of the front captains chairs. Texas Fabrics and Foam is ordering it from the original maker of the leather. Any questions, give Mike Salom a call at 1-800-525-6822. Let him know Justin Brewer sent ya and he will give you an awesome deal

For those of you wondering how big a hide is:

Its like the entire back of a full size cow.

That's kinda what I was thinking about Joe. I'd sure like to see a sample of this stuff before I went after a full hide though. You're right... that's pretty huge.

Think there's any way to get our paws on a swatch?

I have a 6" square of this stuff, if your really interested, I can cut it up into pieces so you all can see it. If your interested, drop me an e-mail with your address and I'll send you a lil sample of what I have.

I might be interested in going in on part of it as well. Let me know if you end up doing it.

I received my swatch from KR early this week. I haven't had a chance to go out and compare it, head to head, with the leather in my truck but, at first glance, it appears to be VERY close to Castano.

So close that, after seeing it in my hand, I believe I'm interested in getting some.

If RP likes it, I'm in.

If anyone wants to split one, let me know.

Maybe we could pay TFF half each, they could split the hide and send half to each person?

I did order a full hide of the material. Believe me when I say this, it's really the whole cow. I got it in on Tuesday. All I wanted to do was the "oh sh*t" handles like on the super duty. I have way too much material.
