New member from England!

Hi guys
Two weeks ago I purchased a very nice 2001 F150 Supercrew, with the 4.6
V8 and auto, and so far I love it!
Over the last 20 years I have owned many American Trucks and vans, and the odd car too, but believe it or not this is my first ever Ford!
The truck has over 146,000 miles on it, but seems to drive really well- I think it's been well looked after. Last weekend I drove it 300 miles towing a travel trailer ( or "caravan" as we call them here ) with no problems at all, and really enjoyed the experience, which hopefuly I will do for many years to come. Even though the cost of gas ("petrol" here) is now equal to almost $10a gallon-its well worth the expense to drive a vehicle which is different, stands out from the usual euro and japanese cars here, and is much more fun to drive.
I just wanted to say "Hi" to you all and look forward to reading all the usefull information on this site.
Cheers,
supercrewkev

neighbour, I am from Holland.

Yeah, gas is expensive here but most of the europeans can still afford it and that's a good thing.
I don't see less traffic on the roads, do you.
My last fill up was for about €140, about 450 km's.

Have fun with your truck.

I think that most of us can afford it, we just would rather use the money for something else. Of course there might be a few whose finances were so screwed up they are now having trouble. That's their own falut.

I have an assignment for all of you Europeans with big trucks. I want to see a picture of a F-150 on top of a Smart car.

Hi Guys
Thank you all for the welcome! It's nice to know that there are others in Europe that share the same interest.
I dont smoke either, but gas is still cheaper than beer ( in the UK anyway ) and I buy lots of that, so I might as well spend the rest on the truck!
cheers

Hi
My truck is still a "lefty" as you put it. In fact all of my American vehicles have been left hand drive.
It's part of the fun of "living the American dream" over here, and it would not be right to drive an American vehicle with Right hand drive! I think many of us who drive American vehicles over here wish we could live in the USA! We come over to the US as much as we can- at least once a year, but we have been as many as 4 times in 18 months!
We tried to move over there in 1990 but even though my wife is a nurse we still could not get there!!?? So we have to make the most of it,and visit when we can, drive American vehicles, listen to country music, and drink American beer! We also have many relations and friends over there, so when we come over we are not the normal "tourist" type of visitor.
I am sure not everyone this side of the pond who drives American vehicles feels like us , but that's the way myself and my wife feel.
Cheers and thanks for the friendly welcome!
