I'm mainly interested in how you gained access to the vents and where you drilled the holes so it actually lights up the vents VS blaring in your face.
awesome, ive been thinking about doin blue cause i got blue neons under my dash lighting up the floor but i dident know how hard it would be to get the leds in there, how far back did u put them in the vents??? and did u have to take the whole dash apart???
Thats awesome man keep up the good work

Also really interested in doing this. Any idea how you would do the blue for A/C and red for heat?

Sorry gents, i been sleeping on this write up. basically what i did was open the ac vents, then reach in with my fingers and simply pull the vent assembly out. it requires a good tug but its doable. then with the vents exposed, you can reach in there with your drill. i found a super long bit that allowed me to drill into the back of the duct at an angle vs. putting the led up front.
THIS ALLOWED ME TO DO THIS MOD WITHOUT THE LEDS BLARING LIGHT AT ME. ITS ESSENTIAL!
at this point you just drop in your led holder, reach in and fasten it. Be careful while drilling, the plastic ducts give really easy. its very easy to tear a hole bigger than you need.
TRUCKIN150- you dont need to take apart the whole dash, just the glovebox, the panel under the steering wheel, and the panel that is visble on the side of your dash when you open the door. The side dash panels make access to the two vents easy, then you just have to struggle with the middle two. i reached these by popping out the bezel where the cd player is. Taking apart these panels is simple, it can be done in 15 minutes! the two side panels pull rite off, the glovebox has screws visible on the bottom, and the under the steerin panel hand clips on the bottome, then screws.
two wires were pulled across the bottom of the dash, and each of the wires coming off of the leds was tapped into these two. the main running wires were tapped into the headlight switch, then wired to its own switch. thats all it is to it! takes an hour or two to do.
i have a write up comin on leds under each seat, and door handles as well, i just need to finish my 64 impala project!! good luck gents, thanks for your interest!!
cool thanks, so where did u order those lights, how much were they?????
i bough them off of ebay from a store named new light world. they were like 15 bucks for 50, prewired and redy to go. they came from hong kong but they came very quickly. check it out!
