Can't adjust blower fan, blower won't shut off
Hey everyone. I just wanted to post this to anyone who has had issues with the blower fan speed control on their F150, Expedition, or Lincoln Navigator.
My father-in-law owns a 2007 Lincoln Navigator with the EATC (Electronic Air Temperature Control) system. Recently he was unable to control the fan speed on his climate control, and when he pressed the Off button, the blower would run at the high speed.
Thanks to other great blog sites mentioning this issue, I was able to trace it to a bad blower speed control module. I had to purchase this part from the local Ford dealer, as it was a part I couldn't find a match for online. The part number is currently 9L3Z-19E624-B and cost about $100.
My particular module has 3 fins on the insert side and a four pin connector. The new part was slightly redesigned, mainly the casing, but it is held in place with two screws, and the four pin connector easily slides out once you depress the little clip on the harness holding it in place.
To remove/replace the module, the Navigator has a black plastic panel underneath the glovebox held in place by two plastic push pin type clips. Gently pull or pry these clips to pop the panel loose.
Underneath the dash/glovebox, the module is located on the far right attached to the right side of the blower box assembly. You should see one screw visible. There is another screw on the other side. I used a 1/4" ratchet which is small enough to get in the small space (can't remember the socket size - 5/16" or metric equivalent maybe?) Remove both screws, then unhook the connector and pull it free. Install the new part and plug the connector back in and you should be good to go.
Hope this helps someone!
