Hey guys I have been fighting this problem ever since my truck was new. Problem is I go around a corner, loose cold air, then hear a THUD, then cold air comes back. I have had the temp blend door actuator replaced twice now, and yes with the updated part. I am leaning towards a problem with the actual blend door itself now.
Does anyone else have this problem or know the fix?
Are you 100% confident it is the blend door? Is the THUD the blend door or the A/C clutch? As the clutch starts to go bad or lose the proper shim spacing, it can ride the hairy edge of being engaged or disengaged. If you still suspect the blend door and it is actuated by a vacuum hose, then check the hose, ther actuator, and your vacuum system. It also sounds like your blend door may have become detached and flapping in the breeze. Another way to confirm the blend door problem is to remove the heat source...namely the hot water going to the heater core. Clamp the heater hose. If it fixes the problem, then you are correct about the blend door. You can also disconnect the A/C compressor (either disconnect the coil wire or pull the fuse or relay)and run your test again. This time if the air gets hot as you go around the corner then you have a blend door problem.
The NBS trucks do not use vacuum for the actuator doors, they are all electric. I am fairly certain its the blend door I know what the compressor clutch sounds like and its not that.
I would disagree about the ac clutch. It sounds to me like a bad blend door. Keep in mind each time you start your vehicle the actuator moves the blend door to its end points. The end points are met when the blend door (made with a plastic base) bottoms out against the heater core plenum framing, causing the self reversing motor in the actuator to then open or close the blend door the other way where it again goes until it hits resistance. Over time, this resistance cracks or often times totally breaks the blend door base. Again, it is made of plastic. So the door kind of sits in its pocket but is now affected by motion, such as making a quick turn. The "thud" sounds like it is the blend door opening and closing. The system will still work in this condition as the actuator still will open and close the blend door, but again, lateral movement will/can cause the door to open to the heater core, stopping a/c for awhile. The problem does NOT sound like an actuator issue, I am retarded about clutches, but the problem you describe sounds very much like a broken blend door. I purchased a repair kit at heatertreater.com and it worked great, it was about $120 but allowed the problem to be fixed without removing the heater core/dash. Took about 2 hours total. Good luck!
How do I replace, remember I have a 2007 NBS truck. The heatertreater kits only works on OBS trucks. And I am 99% its the blend door and not the compressor

I did look online for your truck, couldn't find any info. I bet if you emailed heater treater the guy would hook you up. It appears to be a small business and he knows these systems well. Sorry, thats all I got!
