a/c Clutch Replacement

I have a 98 F-150 4.6L 2WD. Mechanic told me a/c clutch needs replaced because the field coil is bad. I was able to get the clutch plate, pully and field coil off without too much trouble using the pulley remover tool. The problem i am having is getting the field coil back onto the spindle from the compressor. Is there a special tool I need to press the coil on? Right now the truck is siting on jack stands in my driveway and I need to get it at least running again. Thanks

Obviously try some lube. If that does not work, you may have the wrong parts. Make sure you get the parts from a Ford dealer or at least double check your part #s. Sometimes, part #s are changed mid-year and you have to specify your VIN. A Ford dealer will know this, AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts employees will not. If all else fails, you might be able to buy a belt for your truck without the A/C. This will at least get you back on the road until you figure things out.

Good Luck.
