A/C clutch stays engaged all the time

Hey gang. I have an '01 screw 4.6. I just changed the clutch assembly because my pully broke. Now the clutch stays engaged all the time. I can have the ac off and even the fan off and it still runs. I took the new one back and got another one but it still runs. When I put the new one on, I noticed the out side piece (or front piece)would not turn with the belt on. I can take the screw out and it will turn. It looks like the two pieces stay pressed up to each other. Even with the fan and ac turned off the compressor turns and freezes my line up. any ideas?

Did you check the clearance between the clutch plates with the a/c turned off and the engine not running. I suspect you don't have the specified clearance between the plates. Check the specs and measure the clearance with a feeler gage.

He probably either:

1) Bought the POS part from AutoZone (doesn't fit)

or

2) Lost the shim(s)
