A/C recharge procedure

first off, yes i did search, and wasn't finding any answers to these questions. i have an 02 f150 with 5.4, and my ac doesnt seem cold.....just cool(nothing like our 99 f150 work trucks, their A/C is COLD), like its runnin low on refrigerant, so i got one of the r134a recharge deals with pressure gauge, and with the truck running max A/C and fans on full blast, the low side says its about 42-43 psi..... so that should be good, but i did read that the compressor should cycle every 5 min or so, and i sat there for 10 min lookin at the gauge, and the never moved..... so is it still good on the charge, or am i reading these directions wrong?

any help is greatly appreciated

Well it is certainly in its limits. But the same thing goes for me. My A/C has lost its coldnes over the course of 11 years and even if you check the low side of the A/C line it will show the optimum pressure. The problem may lie in the compressor?

Try adding on can in on the low side and bleeding off the high pressure side at the same time.

Before adding refrigerant, check your condensor. I always see customers that come in with clogged up and dirty condensors. If the system can't remove the heat through the condesor, it will dump it back into the cab. The clogged condensor will not allow adequate air flow and heat removal. A good way to test this is to put your A/C back on high and use a garden hose to mist the condensor. If you now get cold air...clean your condensor.
