A/C Issue, 2000 F150 5.4

Is there a relationship between the the aletnator and the AC system? I ask because recently my alt light is coming on at a more frequent basis every day. When it's on the AC blows hot but when the alt light goes out the AC works fine. I first thought the serpentine belt was toast and not spinning both pullies but both are spinning fine and have plenty of tension on the belt. The altenator is squeeking a bit and seems to have a loud electrical ticking sound like it's shot. I still have to take a reading of it but wondered if it was shot that it would also affect the AC.

If the alternator bearing is starting to go bad that could be the problem.

I'll bet a hundred bucks that your alternator is going bad and the voltage is dropping to a level that won't allow your clutch to stay engaged.
