Ford have A/C problems?

I have a 05 f150 bought it with 30,000 miles on it. It had a freon leak took it back and they had to change the compressor and have had it checked several times it just doesnt cool like my vehicles of the past. I can leave it on max a/c from time i get in it for about 15 miles and still not be cool. My dad bought his brand new in 06 he has the same problem. I have a 96 aerostar work van that cools better than my truck and the dealer says nothing is wrong.

I find the A/C in my 06 Screw to be adequate, barely. Definately could be better. Large windshield doesn't help any when driving into the sun.

My 06 cools just fine, granted I have a reg cab so I'm sure that helps. But in all seriousness, its been in the high 90s all this week and it'll push cold air all day long. I will admit though, I also have a 94 sable and it's AC blows ice compared to my truck.

Same problem with my 2006 F150 Lariat that I just bought used. Takes forever to cool in the heat of the day, but then it's 105 degrees in Austin these days and this is a dark green truck. Windshield sunshade helps decrease cab temp.

I checked the temp coming from the center AC vents in the evening - 48 degrees with max/recirculating mode and full fan. Autozone guys says that's spec for Ford and maybe for F150. Have yet to try it in the daytime.

Other forums say to run only max/recirulating mode to only cool the interior air, not outside air in regular mode. I can't tell much difference.

Surely there is something that can be done that works for all these models with this problem to get them to work. If it were a "design" problem, then it seems that all models of my truck in Austin would be having the same problem.

So, what really seems to work?

I have 06 Lariat that is having the same problems. Took in the shop before the warranty went out and they said I had a fan that was stuck. It seemed to work for a bit but not for long. Mine will only work if I am driving on the hwy.

i honnestly think ford underrated their ac systems in their trucks to get the gas mileage outta them. i think you can get a new orface and get a lil more outta it with that but may cause problems.

I've got a call in to the service manager at the dealership that sold me the used truck, asking what he says is spec for this and what to expect, also that I was told that it was checked out before they put it on the lot and all was at least up to spec. Will post his reply when I get it when he comes back from vacation next week.

In meantime, mine is cooling ok but it takes a good while to get there, and only with on max/recirculating. Whenever I bring in outside air to cool at 100+ degrees, that overwhelms the system and it can't catch up. I drive my Honda otherwise on those days, since that blows ice.

I'd agree that Ford likely under spec'd the A/C, mainly in the larger screws, mine cools adequately but nothing great...and that's on MAX to treat the same interior air over and over. I've been meaning to hook my A/C gauges up to it but haven't, I drive my company van most of the time anyway.

i was thinking about the e fan setup making it better b/c sitting still you might as well not crank the truck b/c the a/c doesnt even really work.

Overlooking the problem

The problem is ford's clutch fan does not provide enough cfm's to keep the condenser cool. Especially on warm days. Warm condenser coil = warmer air inside. Switch to an electric fan kit. try troyer.

Note: the cars you all mention as working extremely well like the 94 sable probably had electric fans instead of the belt drivin.
