So how cool should the air be coming out the ducts?

My 2007 F150 supercab came from the dealer with ineffective airconditioning. I took it back th first day, but they swear that it is operating as good as it should. On a 95 Degree day, after 35 minutes of driving:
-The temperature inside the cab is cooled to 79 degrees,
-The temperature of the air coming from the ducts is 53 degrees.

In texas it gets to 110 degrees. Last summer the only way driving the truck was comfortable was if the vents were pointed directly at me, but I do not have duct readings or temp readings for that time.

Is it 53 while sitting still, or when moving?

I bought my 07 truck 3 weeks ago and yesterday I took it to the dealer to have the A/C checked out because the air was cool, but not COLD. The mechanic stated it is not as cold as it should be so they were going to check for leaks. As he was recycling my freon, he noticed my truck was "overcharged" which would cause A/C issue. The overcharge was done at the factory because my truck only has 5500 miles on it...
Take it to the dealer/or diff dealer to have it checked out.

There is no reason why it should not be in mid 40's at a standstill on the highest setting.

That is the correct temperature for a healthy system. Unfortunately living down there it does make the sytem stretch out a bit. Your system is as normal as possible.
I've seen some new trucks putting out a SST (port temperature) of 65 deg. F and still being within spec.
Do not add any additional R-34 or lubricant.

my 07 f150 used to get warm inside when sitting in traffic for a lil while but i added 2 14" fans in front of the radiator (helped out alot) and it gets around mid 40's comming out of the vents in about a min after i crank it in 100 deg temp here in se Texas when its been sitting all day in the sun. and cools the cab down in the 60's in about 10-20 min of driving then i turn it down cause its cold in there. i also have very dark window tint which helps alot.
i plan on adding electric fans to my superduty here shortly to help cool it down it gets warm in there to. cheap fans not those expensive ones talked about in this forum used to replace the engine driven fan but just something to help it out.

Here are my readings.

Cluster was reading 104 outside temp.
Max full fan speed after driving for 5 minutes on road meat thermometer on driver vent was at 48. When i would hit red light and had to wait it would move to 52 and stay. When set to normal it would read at 60. I dont mind 52 when its 104 outside.

2006 Lariat.
note- i manually hit the vent, then a/c then max mode . I did not just jump in truck and hit auto.
note- trucks a/c was evacutated and recharged when 4 months old, tech said it was couple ounces low from factory. Right away there was a big diffrence.

Sound`s just like the problem`s I had in 2006. Picked up my new superscrew in august of 2006 drove 20 minutes to the house and was still sweating when I got there. They tried to say it was working ok but that was bs. Never did get it completely resolved even after two year`s,so much for that great factory warranty. In my opinion there is no argument to be made for buying new,it is and alway`s will be buyer beware.

Mine gets down to right at 40 degrees. I leave a pocket thermometer in the drivers left vent. When I get in there after work the highest I've seen is 130 degrees and within one mile it is down to 40 degrees. It will hit 40 whether I am sitting still or driving.

This past weekend I noticed the a/c not cooling as good as I feel it should be so I checked the temperature. The cluster stated 94 degrees my thermometer stated 60 on max. I press the recirculate button and I did not hear or feel a difference in the air. All my other cars would increase the air flow plus it would feel colder when recirculate was pressed. If I lower the settings to the lowest Fan Speed, it will eventually drop to 44 degrees at a stand still. As soon as I press the gas pedal (under 2k rpm) it goes up to 50 degrees.
I thought the a/c system should get colder as the car is moving unless someone is gunning the vehicle. I am going to take it back to have it checked out.

EXACT same thing here. Also bought my screw in August 06 and have taken it back thinking something was wrong w/the air. I was always told it was normal. Well last weekend my truck just stopped blowing any resemblance of cold altogether. I checked the freeon levels and from what I can see its good. And of course I'm now out of warranty due to miles.

I wonder if there is a known issue with the AC in these trucks. It has never gotten cold like EVERY other vehicle I've ever had.

you should see temps as cold as 34* at the vents (while driving around) and probably 38*-40* at idle. If you are seeing 40* or a little colder you are doing well. The higher the humidity the harder the AC works. Infact humidity has more impact on system efficiency then high temps.

Where did you buy the fans and how much? Are they controlled by a thermostat or stay running while the engine is running?

they are 14" hayden fans bought at advance auto parts along with a hayden fan controller. they are off unless you turn on the a/c they come on with the compressor. or if you have the a/c off they will come on when the clutch fan on the engine kicks into high speed set off the hayden varible temp thermostat controller. there set around 196 ect or 202 cht about the same time as the high speed clutch on the engine fan comes on. it was around 160 for all of it and theve been on there for 1 1/2 years with no problems.
