AC blow Cold on Max but Hot on reg setting

97 explore AC blows very cold air on Max setting only, when i turn it to the reg AC setting air turns hot. wife said that heater would blow really hot air this weather and when she try to adjust the temp setting, it would not change. just blow very hot air till were she would have to turn if off...any body out there that may know what going on...

sounds like a broken blend door, fairly commen problem, only available with the entire case.
