Hey guys, is it totally neccessary to remove the entire dashboard for this operation. Because my truck is starting to reek of antifreeze, although I can't see an obvious liquid leak. And I really don't want to be without my truck for several days while it's in the shop. BTW, I'm concerned about whether there has been any modifications to the location on '99 F150.

Well Alan, I guess I need a copy of your instructions also. If you think you could muster it once more.

Thumbs up

YET ANOTHER REPAIR WITH THIS WONDERFUL SET OF INSTRUCTIONS.

Just to give you a little insight on how good these instructions really are.

Friday night: Wife got me drunk and proceeded to beat the crap out of me. She is tough. I was antagonizing her!!!

Saturaday: So hung over and sore, I started. I had problems with getting my console out. Took out way too many screws. I only needed to take out 6 and the console just slides out. I worked from noon to 5:30 by myself. I followed the instructions to a T. Bagged the screws for each step and placed them in the back with the parts. At 5:30 the blend door was fixed and the dash was going back in. The only time you really NEED 2 people is putting the dash back. So I walked away and proceeded to go out drinking again.

Sunday: Hung over but, not sore, as my wife was elsewhere, I continued. I had a neighbor help put the dash back in. When it goes back in it just does not look right on the drivers side. It turned out that the rubber door seal hides the fact that it sits about a 1/2 inch away from the door frame. Made sure it was "home" and proceeded to do the instructions in reverse. In less than 2 hours I was pulling out of the garage.

I took pictures of every single step with the exception of the console removal. I plan on posting for the benefit of others. I will do this as soon as I can get them incorporated into the instructions.

Thanks again Alan!!!!!!

I need a copy of those instructions too. coptercop@juno.com
How do you tell if the heater control on the dash is bad, the motor that moves the door is bad, or if the door is broken. When my heater started to not work, the knob on the dash (thermostat type) next to the blower controller, started to get hard to turn. I don't hear anything motoring inside the dash when the thermostat knob is turned. The temp never changes coming out of the dash, and I don't have any steam inside on the windows. Thanks.

coptercop,
I'm no authority on these things but here's a link Temperature Control not working on HVAC System to a previous thread that might answer some of your questions. I can tell from the number of requests for these instructions that a broken blend door happens a bunch. I've sent the instructions to your email address. Good luck finding/fixing the problem!

Alan
