2005 radio in a 2001?

Just curious if this would work or not? I noticed that the way its mounted its different that the 05 and up dont require the "tool" to remove the radio but was wondering if the plugs were the same and if I can use it in my 01? My indash was stolen over a month ago so I just decided to rock a stock radio for awhile but I have the tape player version so Id like to get one with a CD and I can find these fairly cheap.

Has a single CD
a cassette
Am /FM1 / FM2
with auto feature that lets the radio scan
channels in a new area .

I am asking $75

not necessarily true, my uncle had one in his 01 f150 from an 05 f150, it fit but he had to push it in slightly, the plugs did not match up but someone made him a custom plug so it could convert it to work

pushed it in? Sounds pretty safe.

So let me rephrase.

It is possible, however the amount of work to make it fit/work correctly is not worth the time/effort for a stock unit.
