Question help choose new head unit..nav/bluetooth/the works

well im thinking of selling my head unit and buying a new one. dont get me wrong the alpine iva-d310 is a great unit bulky but functional. but im feeling a double din i was leaning towards the alpine iva-dw505 but was wanting some more input the other brands would be kenwood or pioneer. the only reason i would go with another alpine is cause i have mostly everything alpine amps/components/hu and will be upgrading my amps to the new pdx in the near future aswell. thanks!

I was in the same position a couple of weeks ago. I went back and forth for days over either Kenwood or Pioneer and kept weighing the pros and cons.

My prerequisites were:

- Double Din with full 7in display
- DVD capable with AV out to a back monitor (DiVX playback was a big +)
- iPod compatible with onscreen iPod control
- Bluetooth compatible for hands free calling
- Back up camera input
- A good FM tuner (I live about an hour from Austin and sometimes the signals are weak)
- Expandability in case I opt to add amps or a sub in the future

Things I like but wasn't really looking for:
- I wanted to keep the factory 3.5mm input even tho I probably won't use it
- I like being able to upload pictures to the HU and use them as custom background images
- I like being able to change the screen background color to more closley match my trucks factory gauge illumination.

I finally decided on the Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD. In order to get the Bluetooth capability I want I had to buy the Pioneer CD-BTB200 but I picked that up from ebay for $73. Ipod control, for just music, can be accomplished via the decks rear USB cable input.

Since I wasn't looking for NAV this HU was exactly what I was looking for for the right amount of money.

Hope this helps

F90BT, I liked the interface a lot more than the Kenwoods. The Kenwood's just seemed outdated to me.

Trust me man, save your money. New updated nav discs for a Z2 run around 100-150. the z2 doesnt come with bluetooth, ipod, etc etc.

Lets break it down....
Nav Upgrade = $100
Bluetooth = $100
Ipod = $50

The cheapest i found a Z2 on google search was $949, and thats from some no name online place which I wouldnt trust at all.

That brings your total to $1200, which is only $400 cheaper then what we sell the Z110 for (im sure you could find it cheaper on line). Why waste your time with a 3 year old head unit?
