Replacing Stock Audiophile 6 Disc Head Unit.. need help

I have a 06 Lincoln Mark LT . I am trying to install a jvc Double Din 7" screen and dvd player. I want to hook it to the existing audiophile components, including the sub. Are there special parts I need to do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you plan on using the audiophile sub as is, then you need to install a 1K ohm .5 watt resistor in series on the amp turn on lead to keep the amp from popping. The audiophile amp uses 5v dc for the amp turn on lead and aftermarket radios put out 12v for turn on.

I just did this EXACT same swap two weeks ago and that's exactly what you need. The installer I spoke to though said I needed a 5k ohm .5 watt resistor. I couldn't find one at Radio Shack, but did find one that was 4.6k and .5 watt. It worked out perfectly.

Granted I replaced all the speakers and swapped the stock sub and amp this week though. It did sound very good without it, but I just wanted something that sounded a little bit better than the stock speakers and sub.

Just an FYI on the JVC.....it only has one RCA port for the sub. So make sure you buy a Y splitter so that you can Y the two RCA's down to the one out on the JVC double din deck. Also on that sub harness, it has two remote wires. Solder them together and then to one end of the resistor and then the other end of the resistor to the remote wire coming out of the JVC deck.

That was just a few things I wish I had known before I installed it. Just a few small tips that hopefully can make it easier on you if you are doing it yourself. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

The Y splitter is not needed on the audiophile sub. Only one channel is used for the amp anyway, also the sub harness plug has two rca's on it but one of them is a dead end and goes nowhere. Take a good look at the sub harness in the truck at the radio end, there are only 3 terminals used. the amp turn on lead, and the rca + and - All you need to do is make sure you plug the right rca into the back of your deck, cause only one of them works

Good to know. Makes you wonder why they include two though if only one is actually being used though. As long as it works right?

I ended up putting a separate amp in there anyway and needed that Y adapter to make it work correctly for the new setup, so thankfully it wasn't a wasted purchase for that part anyway.

5 volt regulator is what i used.....radio shack 2dollars

Thanks alot guys. I had an local installer tell me it would cost an extra 125$ to get the part I needed to integrate the JVC into the existing system.

The amp connection has 2 blue remote wires on it. DO I need to slice them both to the remote wire from the HU?

Yes run both of those blue wires to the regulator / resistor and then from the resistor / regulator to the remote wire on the JVC harness.
