Out with the DDX512...

...in with the DDX812

Unfortunately, the screen crapped out on the 512. I really wanted the 812 anyway(the sound processing is WAY better). The shop was very good about making it right. They gave me $500 credit for the bad unit, and sold me the 812 for $800. So, for $300 I got the upgrade I really wanted, and they installed it less than 24 hours after the 512 broke. They get an A+ for outstanding service.

Sorry for the poor quality pics. I really need a decent camera.

cellphone pic of broken 512:

New unit - Master of Puppets FTW!

Fantastic EQ! I can't wait to get it dialed in just right. Those Alpine coaxial speakers need all the help they can get. I see a set of Dynaudios in my future...

Looks so much better. Sounds like a great shop to work with. How long did you have the other unit for? Kind of a disappointment to see that from a Kenwood.

Yea, I was a bit disappointed that it happened, but it reaffirmed my decision to go with a professional install vs. online purchase and DIY install. I bought the system in November.

I spent some time tinkering with the 812 today. I really like it. The sound really is amazing. I had low expectations for the Bluetooth feature, but even that works nicely. Anyone know how to get the contact list from my phone into the system? The instructions are not very useful.
