aftermarket vs. oem take-out?

I would like to upgrade the stock head unit in my '05. It has an am/fm receiver with no frills. I would like to have IPOD control and a CD player. I have seen many OEM 6-disc in-dash take-outs on ebay. The stock head unit only has a 24-pin connector on the back. The take-outs I see have two connector sockets. Would a PIE go into the smaller socket? I don't really want to go aftermarket as to not attract thieves, but I don't know if I have a choice. Any advice?
