Just bought AVIC-F900BT

Howdy fellas, I just bought a new AVIC-F900BT for the truck, along with the extra Nav antenna, and iPod connector. Now what else do I need? Where can I get the wiring harness to connect? How can I bypass the DVD/Nav on the move? What else do I need?!?! Also where is a good place to mount this antenna, and how hard its it too do? Thanks!

you'll need the double din dash kit for your truck and the wiring harness as well. through metra you're gonna need to look for the 701770 unless you get it at Circuit City and then it'll be 801770. to bypass the parking break you'll need to ground the parking break wire through a two position switch (Pattern will be on -- off -- on (gotta do it kinda slowly)). at work we like to mount nav antennas outside the cab right by the 3rd break light (makes it real easy to get the cable outside the cab). shouldn't be too hard of an installation.... it's basically just matching up the right cable colors

Good to go, thank you! How much cutting will I have to do for this whole install? To get the wire through the 3rd brake light, how do you follow it, up through the headliner? Any sealing issues? Also the wiring harness isn't just plug and play, like pre wire plugs to new wire plugs? Thanks a lot!

On my Pioneer D3, I just left the GPS antenna on top of the head unit and pushed it all into the hole. It aquires the Sats just fine as the signal only has to pass through the plastic dash pad. And no one sees the tell-tell sign of the GPS antenna to know you have it in your truck. Try it.

Yeah I was kinda thinking of that, but I do want to get good reception, when driving through the mountains and stuff...and my truck is lifted, unless there getting in the bed not too big of a deal w/ the tell-tale sign.

Also by two position switch you just mean a regular switch right...like this one http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search, you said ON-OFF-ON so normally closed two position switch?

with the third light you just jump up in the bed and take out the screws to bring out the tail light. then just run your antenna up the A pillar of your truck and along the headliner (don't actually run it on your headliner). if you want to you can run it through the kick panel to the back and then up to the hole for the 3rd break light. as for the plugs, you can use the plug and play BUT if your screen has a fuse in the hot wire you might wanna use that one instead of just doing plug and play.

with the switch it's just a regular toggle switch. you're gonna need it to be able to stay in the on/off position until you manually change it. the "ON--OFF--ON" is just the pattern you will have to flip the switch in when you want to override your break wire

To bypass the unit its: Move mute wire to 4th pin on bottom left(between two black wires) and ground it. Ground the pk brake as well.

The dash kit is a 95-5026. (Ive used it a few times to fill the sides up.)

Not too much cutting. MEASURE TWICE CUT ONCE!!!

Best place for antenna is underneath that oval panel above the pass airbag. Use the sticky magnetic pad that comes with it. 30 Second run.

The wiring harness will either be a MET 80-1771 or 70-1771.

Any thing else just ask.

Good to go thanks! Dang I bought that harness that was previously mentioned :-/ but whatever thats life! lol. No biggy iRmark, it happens. Heres the deal though, should I just have it installed by the shop at my home of record over my leave, or should I take a wack at it? I know electricity, and theory (infact got bit by 120VAC this morning ) but when it comes to automotive electrical I am completely mind f...nevermined lol. Anyway, any other recommendations as far as mounting the antenna? I wouldn't mind mounting it on the roof, but that easy way sounds pretty nice right about now lol. Thanks again!
