Any connections needed for a JVC KW-AVX810

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site, and don't have an F-150 - but I have just bought a 2003 Expedition Eddie Bauer - and I am in the United Kingdom.

There are hardly any American trucks here, so most of the information I need, I have to find on the net - but couldn't find much activity on Expedition forums, so was wondering if someone could help here?

The head unit I have at the moment is an origonal Ford unit with navigation - but the navigation system is no good to me here, and the frequency on FM chanels only gets the odd numbers (we use odds and evens 88.2 ect, so I can only get half of the radio stations)

I take it my head unit is a double din, as it is twice the size of a normal HU?

I have seen a JVC KW-AVX810, and a 710 which are on sale here in the U.K.

Does anyone know if this should plug in to the Expedition, or are there connection converters that I could buy? (I have seen the same/similar models on sale in the USA, so thought the plugs should be the same).
My HU has five seperate plugs on the back - I haven't got a clue what each one is for. I also have steering wheel controls etc.....

Any help will be appreciated

It's been some time since I was in one of those years with the navigation system. I adapted a bluetooth kit to that very same radio about a year or so ago. I had to find out what pin was the audio mute wire. I remember all the different plugs on the back. I can't seem to find the right harness for that radio. I can't remember what the plugs looked like. If you could take a picture and post it I could maybe figure it out that way.

Some other resources that you might be able to find some help on are

ExpeditionForum

or

FTE Expedition section

Thanks, I'll take a picture of the back.

Do you know if all the Head Units sold in America only have the odd FM frequency - if there are any double din's over there that could get the evens, I could buy one with a harness and ship it home?

I used an alpine single din in my Z71 truck and it had the even numbers. hope that helps u might have to look up that model at http://www.crutchfield.com/ and email them. those guys there really know their stuff and would definitely tell what will work and will most likely have the wire harness and instruction on how to install it.
