I picked up an audiophile F-150 head unit on EBay for a good price. When I installed the unit this afternoon, I cant eject or insert any disks. It says Eject Error.
I'm not sure what solutions I have available from the seller on EBay, but do I have any solutions from the dealer?
I'd rather pay the warranty deductible before I go down another road with another stereo.
Could this be a programming issue? Since my truck came with CD/Cass/Radio and this is now a 6CD/Radio Audiophile unit could there be issues? The new unit came from a 2005 F-150 and mine is a 2004.5 F-150.
Please help.....

Hopefully you paid through paypal cause if the seller doesnt want to help out and replace the bad HU, then you can file a claim with ebay and you might be able to get your money back. Also, if you paid with paypal and used a credit card just return the uit to the seller also using a tracking number and then you can go to your credit card company and tell them you want your money back cause the unit was defective and give them the tracking number and info to who you bought it from and you should get you money credited back to your card pretty quickly.
In this case I would say that this is just a bad HU that isnt working properly. If you buy a head unit that is out of an ford F150 (you can tell by the first four digits of the part number 8L3T, the first digit is the year and the L3T means it from an F150) and put it back into a F150 there shouldnt be any problems with everything working correctly. Its when you get a HU from another type Ford vehicle that you will have problems and reprogramming may not fix those problems.
tfrazee, hope you get it worked out with the seller, with ebay these days it doesnt even seem like you can leave a neg or neutral feeback these days, just a bad positive
if you do get reimbursed and you still need a HU for your 04 give me a shout, I have the one out of mine and i will gaurantee it works.
Thanks guys. This was a audiophile head unit. It sounded like a great way to get some of the features I want but keeping the factory look. (whole reason I'm looking for another stereo is someone broke in and took mine)
The seller insists that I goto the dealer to get a report that the unit it DOA. Then he wants me to go thru "Canada Post" (Canadian Seller) and file a claim.
I'm already out $113. I am thinking of just cutting my loses and buying the best factory looking HU and going from there.

Like I said man... pack it back up and get a ship it back to him as a DOA and go through EBAY and file complaint. Did you use paypal with a credit card?
What ever you do when you go to buy another one make sure you ask the seller for the part number of the HU if its not shown in a pic and make sure the part number starts with 8L3T. Thats a F150 Radio The 8 can also be a 4,5,6, & 7 for the year model. Also make sure you dont buy one from the ebay seller named 818matth13 he likes to tell peeps that the radios are from a F150, but when you get it it will be from a Ford fusion or mercury milan or some other and then all of the functions wont work and the dealer cant reprogram it to work. If I were you I would also stay away from a canadian seller.
with ebays new policies, you can leave the seller a negative and they are NOT able to leave you one back.
also, pay for EVERYTHING off ebay with your CREDIT CARD. if ANYTHING happens, do a chargeback. 90% of the time the card company will side with the buyer.
i help run/manage an ebay company man so any other questions you got just let me know.. i kinda know ebay pretty good lol

I purchased this truck in april and recently upgraded to the 2006 NAV unit. As I have stated to the buyer I know nothing about electronics or stereo's and pay installers and technicians to do the work. My firm is involved many fraud litigation situations and often see the worst sides of people. Seeing this side of people has left me jaded I would be lying if I were to say I enter any transaction trusting the people I am dealing with. I have only sold items removed from my Nissan Murano, Infinity G35 and this radio from the pick-up truck and have always obtained a letter stating the condition of any item and have never had an issue before keeping a perfect feedback rating.
I have a letter from the Ford service manager stating the unit was in 100% working order prior to shipping. Tim is suggesting the unit is DOA, however a Ford employee is stating in writing that the unit is fine and I am inclined to believe Ford who work with these trucks daily and have no reason to lie to me.
The advice you are all giving is wise in certian situations, paypal will refund the money and will hold or freeze funds until the dispute is resolved. They did put funds on hold, I submitted the letter from Ford stating the condition of the unit prior to shipping and the service representative informed me that the seller had 10 days to ship the item back, upon arrival have Ford inspect it again if damaged and in different condition then original letter send it to paypal and the dispute would be appealled, reopened and my money would be refunded. That dispute is now closed with no action taken or money needing to be refunded.
Comments pertaining to ebay feedback are also correct, however I have been in contact with client care and again the Ford letter holds a lot of weight in having feedback removed. Feedback is irrelevant anyway, for the amount I use ebay a negative comment does not concern me at all.
As I have told Tim, if he can get documented proof that he did not damage the unit in his installation or that the unit is still in working condition (as it was when it left here) I will refund his $80 that he paid for the stereo and take it back. He refuses to get any documentation therefore I refuse to meet demands based on his untrained opinions.
Ford tells me the unit is working and needs to be reprogramed because his truck doesn't have the same setup and Lariat steering wheel controls. Until Ford says they are completely mistaken it is irrelevant what any of you think and I would approach a similar situation in the same manner.
