01 double din install ?

hi, a friend is selling a kenwood double din p/n ddx6019 off of his 06 truck. i have an 01 and was wondering if this will plug right in or do i need a kit/mods to get this to work. thanks alex.

thanks, i guess looking through each page doesn't work. but i have found a plethora of info once i actually did the search. though the results were not in my favor, i'm not too keen on cutting up the truck. but i guess i'll have to think about how much i like that radio compared to the truck.

you need ot cut out some of the back.......you dont need a kit but you need some saw skills lol.......01 double dins get thinner as the radio goes in....so oyu need to cut out some so a double din aftermarket would fit...its not as hard as it sounds....if it even sounds hard :P

most places shouldnt install it for more than 100 or around there i dont think...

I just got done installing my Pioneer D3 into my 01 and was pretty simle. You have to cut out the plastic behind the trim about 1/4 " along the top. And then you have to cut out the back where the radio slips in as it won't go all the way in without it. I did this in about 1/2 hour no problem. I bought an install kit off ebay that came with a factory harness that plugs right into my system and the side pieces of the install kit just screwed into my radio. After that, plug all harnesses in and slide into the opening to the proper depth and thats it. I'll post pictures when I get them up.
