HU ideas...?

ok
looking to get a new head unit
right now i have an Alpine 9883 and for the most part i like it, but i think i want something better
i really dont care that much what brand it is, but im not gonna buy Dual or Jensen or any of that crap
Stipulations:
MUST be ipod capable and have very intuitive iPod controls
dont care if its single or double din
DVD/Nav would be nice but not a necessity
would like to keep it under $300 or maybe like $600 if its a moniter
any ideas would be appreciated

You should look at the alpine 9887. You cam pick it up for around $300.
If your looking for a video/nav, you can get the alpine w-205 for around $600, and get the blackbird nav to go with it for $200.

I hit Travis at kcautosound.com up a few days ago to say "what's up" and he was excited to tell me about the Clarion VRX485VD finally hitting him. It's a fold-out 7" DVD monitor with great ipod controls. I installed the double din version a few weeks ago in a friend's truck and really liked it. I'm a Kenwood man with nav radios in my wife and my trucks but the Clarion is a very nice competitor. I like how Clarion just "keeps it simple". The ipod interface is simple and easy to use. He doesn't have it on his site yet but he told me he was planning to let them go for around $50 bucks cheaper than Crutchfield's pricing or $500. Ofcourse Travis's prices are rock solid. He will play with them a little bit.

Here's Crutchfields description of the radio. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...=detailed_info

I agree don't go with that Jensen or Dual stuff. I have two co-workers that have both in thier trucks and have had nothing but issues with them.

If SQ is your main concern either the 9887 or PRS-880(PRS-800 is the new model)

If functionality is the big deal either the W205, W505 or the new F-Series from Pioneer.

If ported, always tune to CRF 33Hz... aka the Golden Number
