HU swap problems

2007 F150 Regular Cab XL Package basic HU with 1 connector. I have an audiophile 6 DISC CD CHANGER from a 2007 FORD EDGE (PART#7T4T-18C815-CG). It has the 3 connectors on back. I also have an amp and sub from a 2008 Ford Super Duty, that I have not hooked up. I assumed that I should have been able to hook up the large connector, antenna and at least get it play, but no luck. I've been reading the threads and got some good info. I didnot find the connector for the sub, it may not be there or I might have over looked it. I did find a connector next to the cig lighter and on on the back of the coin holder, neither plugs into anything and don't fit the HU. Any suggestions?? hopefully I don't offend anyone with my questions.

According to my Ford radio manual, the 2007 XL does not come standard with the Audiophile, speed-o-tach or satellite wiring harnesses.

F-150 head units are plug-n-play. Edge head units are not plug-n-play. They have to be programmed and typically will not be 100% compatible with an F-series after programming.

My manual shows your 7T4T-18C815-CG as the Pioneer "Premium" 6CD HU, not the Audiophile. The Edge Audiophiles are listed as 7T4T-18C815-AG and 7T4T-18C815-DA.

Yikes! Maybe someone has an idea on how to Frakenstein this junk together.

worland, thanks for the info. I was trying to get a little better sound and not spend a fortune. If what I'm reading, even if I got an Audiophile HU, I would still have to get the hiring harness for the sub. Do all Audiophiles have to programed or are some of them plug-n-play?

if the original donor truck is an f150 from the same year then i dont think they do. and your going to hafto get the wiring harness for the sub. you might be better off just going with an aftermarket setup

As far as I know, all F-series head units are plug-n-play. A head unit from one 2007+ F-150 should work in any other 2007+ F-150. The antenna connector was changed in 2007, so head units are not forwards/backwards compatible without an antenna adpater. I have found the new antenna connector on 2005 & 2006 F-150's, but it's rare.

I've had a lot of guys bring in Mustang or other passenger vehicle head units and want them installed in their F-150's. It can be done, but the head units require a CPU upload. Typically, the new head unit won't be 100% functional. I usually have to move a pin or two around in the connector to get the backlighting or constant 12VDC to match up with the new head unit.

In your case, an aftermarket system is probably your best bet.
