Ipod jack input

Ok my 05 has the cd/tape/stereo. I obviously have the Aux button. If I go buy the top plate from the 08 truck that has the ipod input on it will it interface and work when I hit Aux or not. The guys at the dealership did not know and I don't want to buy the part and experiment. BTW, it also tells me bad disc if I put in a MP3 cd. Figure the software does not support it.

Only radios from an 07 and newer support the aux-in jack wired directly, or you can buy an auxiliary input converter like the PIE modules. As for the mp3, does your radio say mp3 on the face? If not then it is not supported.

First question, no, adding just the aux input tray will not work. You must also have an 07 radio.

Second, if you radio does not have MP3 printed on the front of the deck, it cannot read mp3 files.

Well then, that saves me some time. Thank You. I guess I will just look into a new head unit and put the original one in the garage in case I sell the truck one day.

If your OEM headunit has MP3 on it, you can get an Ipod integrator. If it does NOT have MP3 printed on the face, it will not work.

Here is my broken record... sorry for all that keep seeing this! I just did the review in the head unit forum, if interested.

animanegra is correct. The MP3 on the front indicates if the head unit will play MP3 CD's. You can create a CD with MP3 files instead of a normal CD and it will play on these units.

The iPod and other MP3 connectors connect through additional units that plug into the back. It seems like they work for 2005+ models -- they may have changed the head units that year (don't know for sure).
