Kenwood DPX-501 display

Has anyone heard of issues with a Kenwood DPX-501 display being intermittent? Sometimes mine takes a while to come on. I'm worried that it might eventually just stay off.

Ok, now my display is officially dead. I have no idea where to send this for repair, or if it's even worth it. It's out of warranty, of course.

Any thoughts?

It will probally be cheaper to buy new. I have a list of authorized repair places that came with my radio if you want the info. I want to change my kenwood dpx-501 to a double din with the audio input in the front. if your interested let me know.

My DPX-501 display died this winter. It's in one of those other brand vehicles (A '98 "Gummint Motors"). I am very unhappy, since I had to disassemble and modify the dash to get an acceptable installation two years ago. Of course, the thing is obsolete now, so I have to see if I can "un-modify" the dash trim and put something other than a Kenwood in the truck. Not a happy camper at this time. I sure won't be installing any Kenwood stuff in my F-150!

The unit was also too "cryptic" for the wife to be able to take advantage of all the features. With the display gone, it's virtually useless anyway. Oh well!

good thing i didnt go with a kenwood. some guy who is a kenwood dealer tried tellin me that kenwood stuff is awesome and i should get it.
