Bad Reception with Alpine head unit

I recently installed an Alpine CDA-9883 head unit in my 04 f-150, and I now get worse reception than I did with the factory unit. I have checked the antenna connection behind the unit as well as made sure the antenna was tight, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Get used to it. Thats normal. The aftm doesnt pay any attention to FM reception because most people wont use it mainly for FM/AM.

Question

I've been told by simply replacing stock antenna with say a billet antenna will help with reception.....anyone had any experience with this?
