I have a question about the P.I.E. FRD04-Aux input converter and a P.I.E. Uni-Pod aux

So I had bby install a P.I.E. FRD04-Aux input converter and a P.I.E. Uni-Pod auxiliary iPOD interface to my 04 f150 stock head unit with a single cd player so I can play my ipod directly through the radio. For some reason it only works when my headlights are on. If the headlights are off and I push the aux button to play ipod it says no aux found. Is it possible bby installed it wrong and if so does anyone have any solutions or is this a common problem for these things? Thanks in advance for any feedback..

My guess is that they connected the FRD's input power lead to pin 3 (orange/white wire) which is the hot for illumination. It should be connected to the red wire on pin 2 (accessory/switched 12VDC). Some adapters need constant power which is pin 1 (yellow wire)
