installing OEM radio in 1999 F250 - steps?

i want to replace an OEM Ford radio back into the truck we just purchased. i purchased a radio/6-disk changer combo that fits, though i think there may have been a radio/single player originally. any thing i need to be aware of? i also have questions about the particulars.

i popped the aftermarket radio out, and see that i need to get a new harness to reconnect the OEM, but my first question is that i noticed that the OEM radio doesn't just pop in the way the pioneer popped out - there's a flange molded into the face of the OEM radio that needs to fit behind the dash panel.. any ideas how i remove the dash panel to put in the radio?

second, what is needed to replace the wiring harness, aside from the harness itself - do i need to solder the wires? i notice they are currently taped w/ electrical.. maybe just crimp/twist and tape? bubble gum?

tia for the help. wanting to get this in! just hate the pioneer that's in it now..

thanks!
jude
