Unhappy Kenwood DDX8019

I recently purchased the above mentioned head unit. It worked fine the first few days of installing it. After I replaced my battery, the unit no longer goes up when I insert a cd. The face comes down but wont go back up. But when I turn the truck off after a minute or so the face goes back up. So the gears and everything work, I just don't know why it won't go back up when its supposed to. I have reset it several times...to no avail. Anyone have any tips on whats wrong??!?

This is a software issue or something. Out of the 100 or so 7100s, 7019s, and 8019s I've sold this year I have had about maybe 5 of them that have had this issue. I just call my distributor and have them drop ship one to my customer for a replacement. I don't know of any fix for this. Kenwood techs will admit there is an issue with some units.

Thanks a lot, you have truly saved me so much trouble. Now, is it a problem if I bought it off ebay, and two where can I find a distributor? It was new off ebay, not used. Don't know if that would make a difference though.

Most likely you will need to have the retailer take care of the warranty for you. Which in your case is the Ebay seller. The Kenwood Excellon unit has a 2 year warranty ONLY through an authorized Kenwood retailer. You can try to contact Kenwood but not sure how they will treat you.

Obviously you rolled the dice and chose to purchase through discounted ebay seller. Exactly the battle us small shop retailers are fighting against.
