Pac unit for the Pioneer avic-d1

I have a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT that I installed a AVIC-D1 into yesterday. My questions is what wires control the steering wheel controls for volume and seek/scan? I want to install the PAC unit to regain use of them on the avic-d1. The problem is the original owner did a hack job and cut all the wires behind the dash. All the wires are there but are not connected to any harness.

Install of PAC SWI-PS problem

I am trying to install the PAC SWI-PS into my 06 Mark LT. The factory harness was cut. I have found so far 2 lt blue/red wires under the dash but do not know which one to use and even if they are the correct ones?

On My F150, it was the blue/red wire located in pin 18. I'm not sure what to tell you if the harness is cut, though. Maybe try a multimeter and see if the signal changes when you press one of the steering wheel buttons.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the pac unit. It works, but doesn't recognize very quick taps of the steering wheel buttons. This is fine for changing tracks, but a little annoying when quickly tapping the volume button to turn it up and down...it misses some of the button presses. It works fine if you hold and down and let it go up or down though. It's just a small pet peeve of mine.

I also like the fact that you can change what the buttons do. I have mine set to volume up/down, mute, and next track. It's nice having the mute button on the steering wheel when your cell phone rings or you want to talk to a passenger for a second.
