2007 6 cd fit in a 2005?

I have a 2005 super-cab xlt f150. It came with a standard single cd player.I have been looking on ebay and noticed a 6 cd/mp3 listed. The model number on the 6cd/mp3 starts with a 7. It has 3 female hook ups while mine only has 2. Will this head unit fit in my truck? And do I need to buy anything else to make it work. Thank-you Troy!!

If you have the exact part number for both units, I can tell you if they're compatable. The 2007 Delphi units appear not to be backwards compatable.

Here are the exact part numbers. My radio part number is 5L3T-18C869-AC. The head unit i'm wondering about is 7L3T-18C815-EG. When you say backwards compatible do you mean the radio's wont work at all or just certain features wont work. Thank-you in advance,
Troy

Still haven't placed a bid on one. Seems like" WORLAND" responding is our only hope. Posted part numbers but never got a response back. I've been checking this site for any updates like hourly. If you look a few posts down it appears someone put one in theirs just needed a antenna adapter. Lets keep our fingers crossed someone pulls through for us. TROY

Not going to work. The 5L3T-18C869-AC was a non-standard (not even in the Ford catalogue) non-Audiophile, Delco head unit. You can replace it with any Phase II non-Audiophile F-150 from the same model year.

6 CD/MP3 -- 5L3T-18C815-FJ
6 CD -- 5L3T-18C868-AF

To use an Audiophile head unit, you will also need the Audiophile amp and sub-woofer.

The 7L3T-18C815-EG is the Supercab Audiophile system (Pioneer). It is not backwards compatable due to a change in the radio antenna and harness in 2007 models. With a radio harness adapter, it may work (Delphi DLP 4071093).

I believe it will work with my 05 truck. I have the 6 disc audiophile system with the phase 2 plugs. According to the radio guide the 7L3T-18C815-EG has phase 2 plugs as well. Just need the antenna adapter. I could be wrong though. I will find out soon. I will be getting my 7L3T-18C815-EG head unit this Tuesday. I will post after I've installed it.

Troy. The audiophile head unit(7L3T-18C815-EG) has very little bass output to the front and rear speakers. The bass is output to the sub. So, it wouldn't sound good without a subwoofer. If you have phase II plugs, all you would need is the antenna adapter, rca adapter(for the sub output)and sub. I replaced my factory sub with the Amplified MTX Thunderform. It sounds awesome and fits right under your seat. I'm not 100% sure if this will work. If it works with my truck, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with yours. Hopefully worland or someone else can confirm what I've suggested.

Here are links to the adapters.

Troy,
I installed the 07 HU in my 05 truck yesterday. Works fine. All I had to do was drill a few holes in the mounting brackets to move them forward about 1/4 inch and add the antenna adapter. I thought the new unit had more power and more bass. It sounded better than my 06 head unit I have in my truck right now. Unfortunately, with the 07 HU, my ipod interface sounded like crap. For some reason the ipod sounds fuzzy and distorted, where as my 06 HU sounds clear. So, I put my 06 HU back in because I have to have my ipod. Now, I have to sell the 07 HU to get my money back. Hope this clears up any questions.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll stick to the part numbers "Worland" recommended. Just curious how much that unit cost. I've been looking for the 05's on ebay --- just dont want to get carried away with bidding. It's been nice chatting with you guys ---take care and Thanks to everyone who gave input. Troy

I bought it for $160.00 from someone in the classified section. Now I'm selling it on ebay for the same.

After searching the classifieds i found a 6 Cd/Mp3 that will fit my truck. What is the correct way to pay for it? Send the money and then get the head unit or get the head unit then pay for it? Any special tips to give so I dont get taken for a ride!! Thank-You Troy
