CAN BUS for factory audiophile system

Anyone know about this? Its in a 2004 scew. I guess it tells the factory dvd player to turn on. The problem i'm having is that i changed out the head unit to a w-200 Alpine. Also putting in the rear seat monitors as well. Trying to get the factory dvd wired into it as well. Is there a way to bypass the can bus so that this can be done? Apparently can only get audio to the factory dvd. There has got to be a way to make this work. Fingers crossed, for anyhelp whatsoever. Thanks

Try a thread search, there is lots of info about this problem. I believe you may be out of luck. Did the replacement unit plugs match the factory harness ?

I'm in Branson, Mo for vacation but when I get back I'll post a step-by-step tutorial from a mobile electronics magazine I get for install shops. It lists how you have to hide the radio behind the glove box and tap into the audio outs from the overhead to make it stay working and to play into the inputs of your indash unit.

The answer that you all have been looking for.

Behind the dash was an option available to me, but i decided against it. Would of put it in the center console but playstation and invertor is there, so that is out of the question. I realize that all you need is for the factory deck to stay on to get this to work, but finding a suitable place where it would be accessable is a tough one. Not an issue anymore, gonna change out the factory overhead with an alpine 10 inch, thanks for the help. More money and a waste of a perfectly good factory system but oh well.

That was going to be my second suggestion...lol I do more ripping out of the factory overheads than trying to keep them.

Thanks for the replies KC. Learned a lesson on this one for sure. Next time I buy a new truck, think it will be bare, and take it from the lot straight to the ALpine dealer.
