Alpine Digital Auxillary Input

I have an alpine 9853 that has a digital auxillary input on the back of the unit, it appears to be just a regular 3.5mm plug input. I have looked all through the owners manual and asked at a couple stereo places and cant seem to get an answer, so Im hoping somebody here will know. What type of source should this digital input be used with, or maybe a better question is what is safe to plug into to this.

I already have the audio out of my sirius sportster hooked up through the ai-net input, I am just wondering if i can hook up another source (laptop) without having to mess around with numerous connections to hook both up to the ai-net.

Thanks in advance.

According to the manual - that 3.5mm is for a Steering Remote Control Interface Connector (pages 45-46)

Yeah, as the poster above me pointed out, that 3.5mm jack is nothing more then input for a steering wheel control adapter module, from companies like PIE or PAC.

If you want to add multiple sources, including your sirius tuner, your only option really is the KCA-410C module. It lets you input two ai-net devices (cd changer, sirius or HD radio tuner, etc) and two aux inputs via a pair of rca jacks. While the unit works awesome (I used to have one, ran two cd changers off it) it generally retails for 150 bucks. You can find them on ebay for under a hundred though.
