Double DIN?

Will this fit in my dashboard? What does double DIN mean?

It will fit in a 2004 and newer dash no problem. You might need an adapter plate or something as i am not that familiar with the dash on the older body style Ford trucks.
Double din means that it is twice the size of a single din unit. Single din is the standard size of most units on the market nowadays.
Hope that helps you out!

Yeah thanks that does help. I think the slot for the radio in the newer trucks is a little bigger than the older style... it may not fit in mine. Maybe someone with an older style truck will chime in.

Everyone seems to be getting Alpine products. Is Pioneer a quality brand?

Thanks.

A DIN receiver is 2 inches high and 7 inches wide. A Double DIN (DDIN) is 4 inches high. The opening in your dash will be slightly wider to accomodate a bezel around the stereo.

Your truck probably has 1.5 DIN (3 inch) opening. There are 1.5 DIN stereo's made for GM's and Chryslers, but they will not fit in your dash.

If memory serves me correctly, your OEM radio is probably 3 inches high? When you pull it out, you'll find only the face plate is 3 inches high, the remainder is just 2 inches high. There will be a bracket on the back of the head unit which slides down a metal rail behind the dash. That metal rail is in the way of installing a 1.5 DIN head unit. If so, you are stuck with DIN head units and those tacky, black plastic bezel adapters.

Your welcome.
There is nothing wrong with Pioneer, your decision should be based on the looks, features, and price.
