Question 1999 F150 switch from Tape to CD player

I am new to this site and recently purchased a 1999 F150 Supercab. I am also new to FORD andgotta say I love this truck. Picked it up with a good deal and was in immaculate condition. Could not refuse and will probably buy new in a few years.

Anyway, I see some of your threads and can see this will be a useful site. My question at hand is I wanted to replace my 1999 AM/FM Tape player with a CD Player. I have been back and forth about putting in a Pioneer or some store bought one but ultimately I want something factory and without a removable faceplate which Ill forget to take out Im sure. I have the "metal wires" to pull the stereo. I wanted to know up to what year CD factory radio will work without having to replace the wiring? Am I only limited to a 1999 CD Player or will others work? Anyone know of a site to get stereos cheap that work? Any help would be appreciated.

Thumbs up All set

I actually found a better scenario. I found a new use for my iPod. I purchased an iTrip for it and now it channels through the speakers on any channel I want. Its like having a remote control which can play any time I want. The rep said it wouldnt work well and I had to download a ton of files and he decided that "I dont need that" and should get a more expensive one. It was only $17.99 and worth every penny for the sound quality. I decided that I would try it anyway since its suppose to plug and play. I got home and popped it on and works great!!! Just an idea for iPod users out there. Compusa has a bunch of retarded sales reps working there.
