I put a top end 2007 expedition radio in a 2004 ford f150 lariat and fits fine and works excellent but the only problem i have minus the fact i lost some bass is that the second button on my steering controls which changes radio stations and cd tracks doesnt switch from like radio to cd like the other radio did?.........any ideas?
You probably have an Audiophile unit that has a built in crossover network that sends the bass to the subwoofer, which I'm guessing you don't have.
The steering wheel controls changed functions during the 2005 model year......nothing can be done about that, unless you can find a firmware flash for these radios.
so if i order a top end 05 f150 radio would that work?.......i need one that says cd-6 and also have mp3 on it to use my ipod kit thats why i was wondering ..............would the 05 radio make everything function correctly?

I'm not sure.
The steering wheel function changed somewhere in 2005, but I'm not sure what exactly is the difference.
I think it used to change to preset stations, and now it acts as a search button.
Push the button to search or change tracks on a CD and pull the button to change from radio to CD, is how mine works.

Does the 07 head unit have an input on back of it for both the Sirius Satellite and an additional AUX input for an iPod? I have an 06 King Ranch but it only has the input for the Sirius. If I buy the adapter I can only use the ipod or the Sirius, not both. I saw somewhere the the 07 units have a built in input for iPods. Is that true?
I am doind the same kind of swap out as the original poster but my truck has the audiophile package, my question is though, the antenna jacks are different between the radios did you have to buy an adaptor, thanks

LUVMYSCREW, you may have answered another question for me. I pulled the stock 6-disc out of my 2004 SCREW Lariat, and a buddy of mine that has a 2007 SCREW XLT is interested in it. I was wondering if any of the wiring changed from 2004 to 2007. Based on what you said above, will I have to worry about the antenna jacks? Any other considerations guys?
You will need an antenna adapter to put a 07 HU in a 04-06 truck. I believe the adapter is for a 05 Chrysler. I ran into the same problem and didn't have the sub. I have decided to use my original HU and use an aftermarket sub and amp.
I have now listed my Audiophile unit on ebay with the antenna adapter. Only 9 hours left.
So long story short is my buddy is out of luck with my head unit. Since mine had the stock sub, as previously indicated, he'd have no bass output to the other four channels due to the built-in crossover.
