04' audiophile HU replacment

Will everything work fine if I place an aftermarket HU in place of the stock 6-disk HU in my f150? Is it simple plug in and go or is extensive effort required to make it work? Thanks

It's kind of plug-n-play. If you get an after market head unit with RCA sub-woofer outputs, then all you need to buy is a receiver wiring harness with sub-woofer adapter (about $20) for your vehicle.

The stereo you buy will come with a harness that plugs into the stereo. You just connect the new stereo's harness to the wiring harness you bought for your vehicle. Once connected (crimp or soldered together) it's just plug-n-play.

The stereo opening is a double-din size. You'll also need a dash adapter to use the more common single din units. Crutchfield's site is full of good info for the novice installer.
