2006 Ford Sirius W/ a Pioneer AVIC D2 Adapter??

I have a 2006 F150 lariat.. It came with ford's Siruis unit. However I bought a Pioneer AVIC-D2 and dont want to have to purchase Sirius' pioneer adapter unit. Does anyone know of an adapter that will allow me to use the factory sirius unit with my new AVIC D2??

thanks everyone.

Ditto. I'm replacing my HU with a DPX-501, which has RCA for the aux in. Factory Sirius comes in on a second harness, according to what I've read in other posts but we need the color code to tap in power and RCAs for line level stereo, right?

Wrong. Now I get it. You're trying to avoid using the converters. I thought that "Sirius-Ready" meant that it had an internal tuner, but it means about the same thing as "HD-Ready" on TVs.

Have you looked at who makes the Ford OEM Sirius adapter? Visteon

Have you looked at who makes the Ford OEM 6CD Audiophile system? Visteon

Since Visteon's own unit won't work with previous 2005 and earlier Visteon units you rocket scientists are suddenly going to make it work with a different brand of unit and wire it into Pioneer's network harness that daisy chains the components. Good luck. Hope you don't screw up a $1600 nav unit to save $100.

Spend the $100 and get the Pioneer unit for the Pioneer. You'll be amazed at how easy it is to hook up the 12v + and - connections and plug in the IP-Bus interface cables. Hardest part is calling Sirius and having your account switched to the new Sirius id on the Pioneer.

Good News and Bad News..

Bad News First - there is no way to adapt the ford sirius unit to your avic-d2.. The Good news however, is that those ford factory sirius units are going for about $300 on ebay cause people want them that dont have them.. So just sell that factory unit and you'll be able to get 3 of the pioneer sirius units

peace

More Bad news....

When you take out the factory unit, the antenna will leave a 1/2" hole in your roof... Does anyone know if you can use the ford sirius antenna with the pioneer sirius unit?? This is ridiculous... Im gonna have a 3 units on my roof after I install the Pioneer Sirius unit.. 1 for the pioneer sirius unit, the ford sirius unit, and the AVIC D2 navigation GPS unit...

someone help....

peace

You may not be able to use factory module, but there should be no problem removing the clip Ford has installed over the standard Sirius plug. Here is a quote from another thread on the forum where the user had no problem. I just looked at a factory antenna end I have and there is just a plastic clip over a standard Sirius antenna connection.

Once that was removed it is the same plug end. The plastic piece is just the clip that holds it in place but its a snug fit and not really needed anyway.
