Line Output Converter Help

How exactly do you install a Line Output Converter? I have a 1000 watt Rockford Fosgate amp and two subs with a stock Head Unit. I cannot afford a new HU at this time so I want to install them using a Line Output Converter. A friend told me that you needed to find the color of the speaker wires and splice the Line Output Converter into them, and then plug the RCA wires into the Line Output Converter.

Is that true, or can you just splice the wires from the converter into any of the wires?

I have a 2001 Ford F-150 SuperCrew. There are two plugs that plug into the head unit. There's a rectangle and a square plug. Which plug has the wires that need to be spliced?

Thank you so much in advance.

You will need to splice into the speaker wires on the square connector, i think the wires you need to splice into are the purple ones.

you need to go out a buy around 10 tappers( or sometime like that) that way you dont strip the wires, you need to know the positive and negatives of either the front set of speakers or the back, depending on which side you want to wire it on(front or back) and then you ground it to the radios ground.

Alright thanks a lot for the help so far guys, but I've got one more question. I took off the door panels and speakers to check the color of the speaker wires, but then I couldn't find those same colors in the square or rectangle plugs. Like, let's say the Front Right speaker wire was orange with a red stripe, and then the other wire was brown with a light blue stripe... I can't find those same colors connected to the plugs.
