Alpine IVA-W200, Please help..

Hey,

Will the new Alpine IVA-W200 fit in a 2002 F-150 Lightning dash?? Do you need to trim some plastic off to make it fit?

Can you defeat the circuit that won't allow the DVD to play while driving? I have a Alpine
7998 head unit installed. Do I need a special or specific adapter to connect the new IVA-W200 to my trucks stock stereo wire cables?

Thanks

According to the crutchfield website the W200 will not fit but the IVA-D310 will. I have an IVA-D300 in mine.

There is a workaround called a PAC Module that will allow you to bypass the video circuit. Do a google search on either PAC Module or Alpine Video bypass. They're around 20-30 bux.

If you already have a wiring harness in your truck for your current head unit you will just need to match the wires on that harness color to color to the harness that comes with the new head unit.

Well I'm not sure if the dash is any different than a regular F150 of that year, but look here Post #6 Post your Headunit! vINeedANewOne It's a 2002 Super Crew with the W200 installed.

The video bypass is called the PAC TR7, get it off ebay for like $25.

If you look closely at that pic it looks as if there was a dash kit or trim ring that was cut to make it fit. I don't know what the exact fitment is but according to crutchfield it won't work for F150's of that year. I know from experience that you can make anything fit but in this case it may not be a straight forward install.

Yeah that's it!

It only takes like 5 minutes to install and then you're set. You just have to program it and once you do that you're good. I've used mine in 3 different cars and never had to re program it or do anything else.

I know Crutchfiled said it doesn't fit, but I was told they say that and you can make it fit. I'll know in the next few days. A friend of mine who does custom stereo installs and myself will be doing the install hopefully this weekend.

I ordered the PAC TR7 on e-bay. I got the one with the toggle On/Off switch. Like $29.00 shipped. Thanks for all the help.

BREWDUDE,

thanks for the link..

Got my PAC TR7 today. My friend and I plan on installing everything this coming Friday and an Alpine Sirius tuner and antenna. I had XM radio with my 7998 head unit. I'm switching to see if I will like Sirius better. I listen mostly to a variety of rock music and I like the way Sirius groups the same type stations together. I'll let you guys know how the install goes.

I decided to buy the W200 because my Alpine CDA-7998 head unit just started giving me problems after 4 years of use. On the CDA-7998 head unit, the manual volume button will not let me adjust the volume up and down. I can only adjust the volume by using the remote's volume buttons?
I was going to try and get the 7998 repaired and put it in another vehicle. Am I wasting my money on getting it repaired?

Know any good places to get it fixed at a reasonable cost?

thanks

I've been listening to Sirius for the past few days. In my opinion it is much better then XM, I like the channel selections 100% better. I had XM for 3 years and really didn't like the channels I listened to. I really like how Sirius group the rock, pop, etc channels together.

Sorry XM, I'm done with you.

I noticed last night that my Air Bag light in my Instrument display is blinking?
Could it be from the PAC TR7 or just a coincidence. I checked my truck manual and it says the light wil blink when there is a problem.

Pics to follow soon..

Soon as I get it repaired, For Sale Alpine 7998 head unit with XM tuner, Make reasonable offer... I loved the head unit, but it can only be used for XM radio. I plan on selling it and getting a new Alipne head unit with Sirius for my other vehicle.

Thanks
