Installed my Pioneer 5700

I just got done installing my pioneer 5700. Everything works excepth the dvd functions. I grounded the light green wire. Apparently you have to have the e-brake up when you turn on this dvd player and then press the brake to make it play dvds. My problem now is I don't know how to tap the e-brake wire. Does anyone have a good how to on doing this. I gotta go to radioshack tomorrow and get somemore wire taps cause I cut the one off that came with it. for the green wire. Is it easy to tap? Please give me some advice. The more I have I have used this unit. The more I wanna make sure to wire this right. I can really see why they put this safety on here. I never want to have to worry about this hurting someone. Well with that said the mp3 player is great the and xm unit works too. I'm thinking about getting the nightvision backup camera just for heck of it.

The taps work ok. You just put them on the wire. Put the other wire in the remaining hole and crimp with some pliers. That should be all you need to do.

Is the wire looking for 12v or ground to work the DVD? You could always fake the system out one way or another.

lol, dont connect it to the brake wire. Just connect the green wire to the other ground wire(should have 2 ground wires). By doing this, you can watch DVD's while your on the roll...errrr but, your passengers should only be watching

That the way I got it right now Domestic. Thank you guys for the post. It says it is illegal to drive with a dvd in when I hit play. The new pioneer units look for an open circuit when you turn them on. Then sometime before you put the dvd in you gotta short that circuit. I thought you could just ground it and everything work perfect. It don't work that way on this unit. How do I find this wire? Where would be the easiest place to tap it at.

Yeah I know a little about the 5700 cause you see I know this guy cough me cough that is selling one lol. I had it in my dodge and there were 2 wires coming off the e-brake. I spent about 5 minutes upside down and hooked it to the right wire and bam it worked. Now I will say if the e-brake was on when I started the truck DVD would not work unless I released the brake and reset it.

It was a dodge but it is the wire that is grounded to the metal e-brake bracket just an idea to look for. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Do I have to take that plastic panel off to find it? I can't see it from just looking at the e-brake. Does anyone have a picture of where to tap it.

I have the same unit. Using that light green wire, rig a toggle switch to it and the other to the brake. When you want to watch, toggle it back and fourth to trick the system. Works like a champ for me.

send me your email and I will send you the picture where I put the switch incase you get pulled over.
